As ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ hit theatres this weekend, fans’ expectations for a Deadpool film were never higher, and yet they were not left disappointed. Claiming the film delivered would be a massive understatement, thanks in part to the stellar cast, including the returning Dafne Keen. Meanwhile, one of the surprise cameos belongs to Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively, who portrayed Lady Deadpool.

The rumors of Blake Lively’s cameo made headway in June 2024 when a teaser trailer dropped on Best Friends Day revealing the arrival of Lady Deadpool. This was enough for rumors to go into overdrive, as fans began to dissect every clue for confirmation.

In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Lady Deadpool appears late in the film, but she emerges as one of the key players in the climactic showdown, bringing her own brand of chaotic energy to the mix. The character is revealed to be a part of the Deadpool Corps—a ragtag team of Deadpool variants. Blake Lively never takes off the mask, but for anyone familiar with this wonderful actress, her distinctive voice and charismatic presence offer enough evidence to realize the star behind Lady Deadpool.

Albeit minor, and merely a cameo, many fans already wish to see more of Blake Lively in future Marvel projects, now that she is officially part of the MCU. It’s difficult to predict where exactly she fits in, but the multiversal storylines have opened up worlds of possibilities, so it’s not difficult to imagine a randomly introduced character being a part of the bigger storyline in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Along with Lady Deadpool, the movie introduces dozens of Deadpool variants, some of whom are played by renowned figures from Hollywood in a blink-and-you-miss-it kind of moment. The most notable ones are Nathan Fillion, who makes a cameo as Headpool, and Matthew McConaughey, who portrays Cowboy Deadpool. On top of notable actors, Reynolds’ real-life kids also make an appearance as Kidpool and Babypool, adding a heartwarming touch with creativity and humor.
Make no mistake, though, the movie is more than merely cameos and nostalgia bait. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has plenty of heart, emotional depth, and delightful storytelling. It’s the complete package and arguably the best film in the franchise. Both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman knock it out of the park with their amazing chemistry, spectacular fight scenes, and incredible character moments. The movie is anything but forgettable; in fact, it’s an absolutely rewatchable film that stays with you for a long time.
