His mistress Sahel “Jenni” Kazemi, 20 at the time, reportedly shot him in his Nashville apartment on July 4, 2009, before taking her own life.
The multimillionaire McNair was survived by his wife, Jonula “Mechelle” McNair, who he married in 1997, and their two sons, Tyler and Trenton. Additionally, he had two more kids, both sons, from his previous relationships: Steven L. McNair Jr. and Steven O’Brian Koran McNair.
Stephen LaTreal McNair Junior
McNair’s eldest son, Stephen LaTreal McNair Junior, was born from his dating life with his high school sweetheart Cotina Feazell. Air McNair’s son was an impressive football player during his high school years.
When his father was slain, Stephen Jr. was a senior wide receiver at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Even though we don’t hear much about what he’s up to these days, there’s no credible report claiming he’s passed away.
Steven O’Brian Koran McNair
McNair’s second son from a past relationship is Steven O’Brian Koran McNair. He was 15 at the time of his father’s death in July 2009. There are not many updates about his whereabouts in 2024, but nothing on the media suggests he has died. He was known to be living with his family in Mount Olive, Mississippi as a teen. Since then he has not appeared in the public eye. His status remains unverified but not confirmed as deceased.
Tyler McNair
Tyler McNair, the son of Steve McNair and his wife Jonula “Mechelle” McNair, was 10 when his father died. He left basketball and has since pursued a career in dance, choreography, and modeling. His mother revealed in a 2018 interview that her 19-year-old son was heading to New York University on an academic scholarship. Tyler is very much still in the public spotlight, so he never had any significant life-threatening health scares. He continues to follow his passions in 2024.
Trenton McNair
The youngest son of Steve McNair, Trenton McNair, is the second offspring of Steve and his wife Mechelle McNair. Better known as Trent, he is currently studying at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he’s starting to make his name in the basketball arena. Just like his brother Tyler, he is very much in the public eye, so he has never had any health issues, either. Trenton, who was 5 when his dad passed, is active in his studies and athletic career, as he continues to honor his father’s memories.
