Oliver Miller: All About His Mystery Wife and $3M Net Worth

Oliver Miller’s story is one of talent, struggle, and legacy. Known as “The Big O,” he made waves in the basketball world with his massive frame, sharp passing, and shot-blocking prowess. Born on April 6, 1970, in Fort Worth, Texas, Miller honed his skills at the University of Arkansas before making his way to the NBA. But his story wasn’t just about basketball—it was about perseverance, personal battles, and a life that, unfortunately, ended too soon at the age of 54 on March 12, 2025.

Miller’s NBA journey began in 1992 when the Phoenix Suns drafted him as the 22nd overall pick. Standing 6-foot-9 and weighing in at 280 pounds—though that number would climb over the years—he played a key role in the Suns’ run to the NBA Finals in 1993.

Throughout his nine-season career, he played for six different teams, including the Suns, Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, and Minnesota Timberwolves. His best statistical season came in 1995-96 with the Raptors, where he averaged 12.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Despite his on-court skills, his weight issues often overshadowed his talent, leading to fluctuating playing time and career instability.

His post-NBA career took him across the globe, playing in leagues in Greece, Poland, Puerto Rico, and China. He even had a stint with the Harlem Globetrotters before bouncing around various semi-professional American teams. His final attempt at professional basketball came in 2010 with the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry, after which he officially retired.

Away from basketball, Miller’s personal life had its highs and lows. He had two sons and a daughter, though much of his romantic life remained private. He did, however, make headlines in 2011 when he was involved in a violent altercation at a barbecue in Maryland.

Miller was arrested and charged with first-degree assault after pistol-whipping his girlfriend’s brother. The incident resulted in a one-year jail sentence, followed by five years of probation. It was a dark chapter in an otherwise remarkable life.

What Was Oliver Miller’s Net Worth?

Financially, Miller’s career earnings from the NBA totaled around $7 million. While he never secured a massive contract like some of his contemporaries, his earnings allowed him to live comfortably in Phoenix, where he spent his later years coaching, attending basketball camps, and enjoying time with his grandchildren. At the time of his passing, his net worth was estimated to be around $3 million—modest compared to modern NBA stars but still a testament to his years in professional basketball.

Oliver Miller’s death came after a battle with cancer, which he publicly acknowledged in February 2025. Tributes poured in from former teammates, coaches, and fans. The Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, and University of Arkansas all honored his legacy, highlighting not only his contributions to basketball but also his larger-than-life personality. Former teammate Danny Ainge recalled Miller’s “swagger” and described him as “one of the best passing bigs” he had ever played with. His impact was undeniable, even if his career never reached the heights some had hoped for.
