Shockey is a Canadian hunter, television personality, and conservationist renowned for hosting ‘Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures.’ Recently, though, it’s not his hunting that is making people talk.
The Story Behind Jim Shockey and His Girlfriend Serena
On November 20, 2023, Jim Shockey shared a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, who passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Fans showed tons of love and support, sharing their condolences and admiration for his touching tribute to his beloved wife.
Around three months after his wife’s tragic passing, Jim shared a long post, expressing his thoughts on age-appropriate dating; perhaps a hint of what was to come. He argued that age shouldn’t matter if two people share love and chemistry. Fans had mixed feelings about this, but Jim emphasized that he wanted to respect Louise’s wishes for him to find happiness, irrespective of what people may think.
Fast forward a couple of months and Jim introduced a new woman named Serena into his life with a “soft launch” post. He joked that his late wife might be jealous, and thanked Dianne East for a drawing of the new couple. A few days later, he shared a cute picture of them together, writing: “TRUTH! OPPOSITES DO ATTRACT!”
Fans, however, were not fond of their idol dating a woman half his age, with many comparing Jim’s new girlfriend to his daughter Eva. The entire comment section, unsurprisingly, was unflattering. A day later, the 66-year-old wrote an emotional post about the profound grief of losing his wife. He claimed only those who know what it’s like to lose someone can understand that judgments are unfair on how long one should take to move on.
Jim celebrated a one-month anniversary with Serana on April 12, captioning:
HA! IT’S BEEN A MONTH ALREADY…AND THEY SAID IT WOULDN’T LAST!! Serena and I look at it this way; I’m a Vegetarian who eats meat… and she’s a Carnivore who eats vegetables! We’ve discovered the cure for intolerance! Understanding that we are ALL exactly the same DIFFERENT people! 🤷🏼
Shockey has not stopped posting about his dating life on Instagram, triggering several of his followers. The fact that she looks as old as his daughter or maybe even younger makes many of his fans see this relationship as problematic.
In July, Jim shared his delight over catching his first 150-pound sturgeon in the company of his new partner. Many fans in the comment section were happy about his joyful relationship with Serena, which was a welcome change.
Recently, Jim shared excitement for the Chuck Wagon Race Track, where one fan expressed concern that he might not be on speaking terms with his daughter, Eva. The user wrote, “Are you and Eva not speaking? Because you are dating? Have not seen any posts of you two in a while.” Jim quickly clarified, “Haha! Of course Eva and I are speaking! Good grief! We should not need to say this, but people must understand that it’s not our place to judge this man. If two consenting adults make each other happy, there is literally nothing wrong with it. To be fair, though, trying to find a problem where none exists is typical of social media.
Jim Shockey’s Beloved Wife Louise Was the Heart of the Family
Jim Shockey exchanged vows with Louise (née Johann) in 1984. The couple shares two children, Branlin and Eva Shockey. They are also grandparents to four grandkids.
Louise Shockey passed away on September 21, 2023, after succumbing to cancer following a brave battle for 2 years. Married for almost four decades, Jim Shockey’s wife, Louise, was the quieter part of the family, more focused on being an amazing mom and grandma. Jim would often go hunting around the world while she stayed at home taking care of her family in British Columbia.
Jim shared the harrowing news that Louise was severely ill in November 2021, following which their struggle with cancer came out in public. The road from there on was anything but easy. Louise, to her credit, refused to give up and battled cancer with rigorous treatments, which included immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Jim’s social media updates showed the immense strength and love she carried even in the face of such incredible hardship.
Louise was never someone who remained in the spotlight like her husband, but she was the heart of the family, never hesitant to shower every member with her warmth and charm. Everybody loved her for her kindness and grace, which should come as no surprise. In her final days, Jim got pretty emotional and recalled their life together, hoping for a beautiful afterlife for Louise.
Her passing has touched deeply to her entire family as well as her fans. ‘Nana Weezy’ will be remembered for the strength and love she shared with those around her.
