Grant Fisher’s Girlfriend Sarah Walker Is a Key Player in His Olympic Story

Grant Fisher, a standout long-distance runner, became the first American man in over a decade to win a medal in the 10,000 meters at the Olympics. He clinched bronze at Paris 2024, finishing just 0.02 seconds behind silver medalist Berihu Aregawi of Ethiopia. Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda took home the gold.

Fisher is only the fourth American ever to earn a medal in the event, and the first since Galen Rupp won silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. On August 10, the runner secured his second bronze medal in the 5,000-meter final and became the first American to collect medals in both events at an Olympic event.

He previously competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he finished fifth in the 10,000-meter race. The athlete has had a remarkable journey both on and off the track. With a growing curiosity about his personal life, some are even wondering if Grant Fisher has a wife. Let’s take a look at his relationship status and dating life.

Sarah Walker: More Than a Girlfriend, the Quiet Force in Grant Fisher’s Life

One of the notable figures in Grant Fisher’s life and career is his girlfriend, Sarah Walker. The two bumped into each other while running at Stanford University. The couple’s relationship dynamic has barely changed over the years. “The Grant you meet now is the same Grant I met in college,” Sarah claimed.

Sarah, who works at the National Ability Center, is not just Grant’s romantic partner; she has been a supportive presence throughout his career. Their relationship dynamic looks more like husband and wife based on their deep comfort with each other.

Back in July 2024, Walker said she had never seen Fisher happier than when he was preparing for the Paris Olympics in Park City, Utah. Sarah also told Park Record that she would be cheering her partner in Paris before spending some more time with him in Europe.

Following their vacation, Grant’s girlfriend, Sarah, who also helps pace him on bike rides during training, is set to start her master’s degree in human factors engineering at Tufts University in Boston. Despite online speculations, the couple has not yet married, obviously. To be fair, though, it looks like a matter of time before this wonderful duo ties the knot.

The Athletic Legacy: Inside Grant Fisher’s Family of Runners and Soccer Stars

Grant Fisher was born on April 22, 1997, in Alberta, Canada, but grew up in Michigan and California. He went to Stanford from 2015 to 2019, where he ran track and studied electrical engineering.

The 27-year-old, who turned pro in 2019, comes from a family of athletes. His parents, Dan and Sonia Fisher, are both runners. They met on the track at Arizona State University in 1986. Even his grandfather ran in the Pac-12 conference for collegiate athletes.

Speaking about his son’s growing recognition in 2014, Dan said:

He has a good gene pool. It’s amazing and obviously we’re proud of him. It’s been athletic success with his grandparents also and his brother and sister are exceptional athletes.

Grant’s younger brother, Mark, 23, is a professional soccer player, who currently plays for Toronto FC II in MLS Next Pro. The Olympian is a middle child and has an older sister, Hailey, 29, who has been cheering him on since his rookie days. She supported Grant when he won the 2014 Foot Locker Nationals in the fall of his senior year.

Besides running, Grant Fisher was really into soccer. He loved the sport since he was a toddler and started playing when he was just 4. He joined the Michigan Wolves during high school. However, he did not pursue the sport professionally. The long-distance runner currently trains in Park City, Utah with Coach Mike Scannell.
