Since last year, a weird online drama has been brewing around Elon Musk and a superfan named Adrian Dittmann. Social media users have been speculating that Dittmann, who runs a popular account on Twitter—sorry, “X”—might actually be a secret account run by Musk himself.
The rumors about Musk creating a burner have blown up, thanks to run-ins with prominent X users, some oddly similar voices between Dittmann and Musk, and an internet crowd that is super eager to uncover the truth.
Is Adrian Dittmann Really Elon Musk?
The drama kicked off when some X users started accusing Elon Musk of pretending to be Adrian Dittmann to hype himself up. One of the people pushing the theory was Liam Nissan, a popular comedic account with over 350,000 followers. Not long after pointing out the alleged link, the account disappeared, sparking rumors that Musk had a hand in taking it down.
These suspicions grew stronger because of Musk’s control over the platform, despite his supposed commitment to free speech—a stance his critics love to challenge. Later, though, the account popped up on Bluesky, claiming he’d actually deactivated his account himself after facing “creepy a** threats” and doxing attempts, which he blamed on whoever was behind the Adrian Dittmann account.
Dittmann’s account has been a bit of a mystery since it originated in July 2021, constantly hyping up Musk and everything he does. Dittmann is always in Musk’s replies, praising everything from his parenting to his business moves. For instance, when Musk shared a photo with his kid, Dittmann commented, “You’re an amazing father, Elon. Your kids are very lucky to have you.” And it’s not just personal stuff—Dittmann also goes all in on Musk’s companies, notably Tesla, with bold takes like, “It took Boston Dynamics 30 years to achieve what Tesla achieved in one.” This constant praise and unwavering loyalty have made the account a hot topic for speculation.
One of the most interesting parts of the controversy is how much Dittmann sounds like Musk. During a Spaces event, Elon’s mom, Maye Musk, was blown away by how similar their voices were, remarking, “That’s a good imitation. I don’t know how you do that.”
On another occasion, Alex Jones and David Icke went full conspiracy mode during a live Spaces chat, speculating that the voice they heard—supposedly Dittmann’s—might actually be Musk or some kind of AI trickery. Dittmann flat-out denied using AI, claiming it’s just his natural voice. Still, the vocal similarity keeps people guessing, especially since Musk has been caught using burner accounts before.
Musk’s history with alternate profiles makes the story even juicier. Back in April 2023, he accidentally let slip a screenshot that seemed to reveal a second account. This account played the part of a little kid, constantly gushing over Musk’s main account with over-the-top, childlike praise. The slip-up had many thinking Musk might be into running burner accounts, adding some weight to the Dittmann claims.
Despite the fervor, there is little concrete evidence linking Musk to Dittmann. The strongest argument against it comes from their live interactions. Musk and Dittmann have chatted in real-time during events, with overlapping conversations that would be pretty tough—though not impossible—to fake with AI. Pulling off something like this would require top-tier AI that could perfectly sync two completely different personalities simultaneously. Sure, Musk is known for pushing tech boundaries, but even for him, this feels a bit over the top.
Dittmann himself has denied the allegations, asserting unequivocally, “I’m definitely not Elon. 100% not.” His account, while a bit odd, does show signs of being its own thing. However, it’s not as clear-cut as he’d want you to believe. Some fans point to Dittmann live-streaming himself playing Diablo 4—the same game Musk used to test X’s streaming features.
Update: Adrian refers to Elon in first-person in X Spaces.

Elon Musk and Adrian Dittmann had a hilarious conversation on X Spaces about the wild conspiracy theories surrounding their weird similarities, and it left everyone cracking up. Dittmann joked about the crazy idea that he might be Musk’s clone or some Neuralink experiment, quipping, “Can you confirm I’m not one of your Neuralink projects—or maybe I am and just don’t know it?”
Elon, playing along, pointed out their freakishly similar sense of humor and mannerisms, which Adrian labeled as “autism humor.” They got into simulation theory too, with Dittmann sharing the moment he first noticed the resemblance: “I was watching your SpaceX rocket tests in 2016, and someone said, ‘Hey, this guy sounds like an older version of you.’ I was like, ‘What is going on with this world?’”
The pair also discussed Musk’s worldwide doppelgängers, including a mysterious Chinese lookalike. Musk cracked up at the idea of forming a “holy trio” with his lookalikes, joking about whether deepfakes or some crazy facial mods were behind them. Amid the chaos, Dittmann revealed his love for data gathering on social media, calling it “like a machine learning algorithm—you curate the noise to find the diamonds.” He also couldn’t help but fangirl a little, admitting, “Hearing you laugh like this is the best thing ever.”
It remains unconfirmed if Elon Musk and Adrian Dittmann are genuinely two different people.
