White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is navigating the high-pressure world of politics with an infant in one hand and a toddler in the other. The 28-year-old mother of two has recently introduced the newest member of her family: a baby girl named Viviana, affectionately known as “Vivi.”
Leavitt, who made history as the youngest person to ever hold the position of White House Press Secretary and the first to give birth while in the job, announced the arrival of her daughter on May 7, 2026. The baby was born on May 1, 2026, and according to Leavitt, she is “perfect and healthy”. This joyous event comes as the Trump administration’s top spokesperson is on maternity leave, capping off an eventful year for the young press secretary and her growing family. She is married to 60-year-old real estate developer Nicholas Riccio, whom she wed in January 2025.
A Mother of Two: Niko and Vivi
The Washington power couple’s journey into parenthood began just a year before Viviana was born. Their first child, a son named Nicholas Robert Riccio—who goes by the nickname “Niko” —was born on July 10, 2024. As of spring 2026, Niko is 21 months old and will turn 2 this July.

Leavitt described the birth as “the best moment of my life” but had to cut her maternity leave short when then-candidate Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt just days later. It was a dramatic start to her balancing act as a mother and a top political aide.
Unlike her rushed return to the campaign trail at the birth of her son, Leavitt is currently enjoying family time with her newborn, sharing that her two children are joyfully adjusting to each other. Her daughter, Viviana “Vivi” Riccio, arrived to a room filled with pink decor and words of gratitude, with Leavitt calling her “the best Christmas gift we could ever ask for” when she announced her pregnancy in December of 2025.
Balancing Family and the Podium
Having a household of two little ones hasn’t stopped Karoline Leavitt from being a fierce advocate for President Trump or from being vulnerable about the realities of working motherhood. She has been open about the “guilt” that many working parents feel, telling the Christian Broadcasting Network, “It’s an incredible challenge and it’s something I still face to this very day, having to deal with that balance of wanting to be the best you can in your job and being the best mother that you possibly can as well.”
